Our final visit to a farm that has delivered so much on two previous occasions didn’t disappoint on our third visit. Thirty-five acres of pasture was enthusiastically covered by forty-two enthusiastic detectorists. After a bout of dry, warm weather the ground was a tad hard and particularly so on the higher fields, one of which yielded the reward of denarii to those who persevered. So many finds: crotal bells, fibulas, hammered coins, silver coins, buckles…and the denarii. It was quite a challenge to pick a ‘find of the week’. We had a poll with five contenders, four of them denarius from Izaak, Barry, Amanda and Danny.

In 3rd place was Danny’s silver denarius,

in 2nd place was Amanda’s denarius.

However, the clear front runner was Jack’s Somme trench art. Congratulations Jack!
