2023 Find of the Year

There have been many super finds in the nine months since MMDC's inauguration. But we have to go back to our very first dig on 1st April at Purshall Green, where without doubt it really was the 'find of the year' - a Hoard, of mainly Henry 3rd hammered coins.  Ironically the dig was titled 'Hunt for Romans!" but no-one could have thought in their wildest dreams that a hoard would be found on our very first club dig! Congratulations to all that were involved in the discovery; Neil Cox, Daron Cox, Dave Cooper, Lee Baldwin, Harry Allen, Marcin Czapski and Sid Perry. The hoard still sits with the FLO and we await an update.

There hasn't been much gold turn up for our members but a special mention must go to Stephen Moverley and his gold ring find on 22nd October at one of our Wychbold digs. Congratulations Stephen!

The best of luck goes to all our members in their detecting endeavours in 2024 as MMDC goes from strength to strength!
